Will converting HEIC to PNG reduce image quality?

No additional quality loss occurs. PNG is a lossless compressie format — this tool preserves all pixel information from the decoded HEIC, with no new compressie artifacts or detail loss. Note that HEIC itself is lossy, so existing compressie losses cannot be recovered.

Will HEIC transparant backgrounds be preserved?

Yes, fully preserved. This tool correctly parses alpha transparantie channels in HEIC format and converts to PNG with normal transparant results — no black or white fill issues.

Why is the file so much larger after converting to PNG?

This is normal. HEIC has extremely high compressie — about 50% smaller than JPG — while PNG uses lossless compressie. Bestandsgroottes are typically 3-8x larger than HEIC. If you don't need transparantie or lossless quality, convert to JPG for much smaller files.

Are HEIC photos uploadened to a server? Is it private?

Absolutely no uploadens. This tool uses the heic2any library to decode HEIC locally in the browser, then encodes to PNG via Web Workers. Your photos stay on your device the entire time and are never sent to any external server. Processing private photos and ID pictures is completely safe.

Can Live Photos be converted?

The static HEIC image portion of Live Photos can be converted, but the dynamic video portion will not be converted. If you only need the still photo, it works perfectly.

Is batch conversion of multiple HEIC files supported?

Currently one HEIC photo is processed at a time for browser-side processing stability. Process photos one by one for multiple conversions. Batch functionality may be added in future versions based on demand.

What's the difference between HEIC and HEIF? Is HEIF supported?

HEIF (High Efficiency Image File Format) is the general format specification, while HEIC is the specific container variant that Apple uses. This tool supports both .heic and .heif file extensions.

The PNG is too large after conversion — what can I do?
